Event Overview
The Charlotte Chess Center’s 2025 Club Blitz and Rapid Championships on Memorial Day and has a $1,500 guaranteed prize fund. Players may play blitz, rapid, or both!
RAPID FORMAT
- $650 Guaranteed Prize Fund
- Time Control: G/10; inc/5 - 10 mins per player with a 5 second increment
- 5 Rounds
- 1 open section with class prizes
- Live US Chess Regular Ratings used for pairings and prizes
- US Chess Quick Rated and FIDE Rapid Rated
RAPID SCHEDULE
- Rapid Registration closes 10:15am.
- Rounds: 10:30am, 11:15am, 12:00pm, 12:45pm, 1:30pm.
- Short break between Rapid and Blitz: 2:00-3:00pm.

Top Under 1800: $50
Top Under 1500: $50
Top Under 1200 or Unrated: $50
Plaque and Club Champion Title to 1st place, on cumulative and "average rating cut one" tiebreak if necessary.

BLITZ FORMAT

- 9 Rounds (Swiss, single rounds)
- 1 open section with class prizes
- Live US Chess Regular Ratings used for pairings and prizes
- US Chess Blitz and FIDE Blitz rated
BLITZ SCHEDULE
- Blitz Registration closes 2:45pm.
- Blitz Rounds: 3:00pm then ASAP, Tournament should end ~6:00pm.

Top Under 1900: $50
Top Under 1600: $50
Top Under 1300 or Unrated: $50

Players rated 2200+: Free entry ($35 deduction from prize per event - no deduction for GMs, IMs, USCF 2400+)
CCC Members: $35.00 per event
Non-Members: $45.00 per event

The Charlotte Chess Center’s Main/South Location is conveniently located off of I-485 and Pineville-Matthews Road. CCC’s Main/South Branch serves both North Carolina and South Carolina. Regulars join in from Ballantyne, Pineville, SouthPark, Matthews, Mint Hill, Waxhaw, Weddington, Steele Creek, Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Rock Hill, Lake Wylie and South Charlotte.
