2025 Cincinnati Open

$17,000 prize pool based on 270 paid entries. (In 2024 we had 254.5 paid entries.)

FIDE sections and prizes:

FIDE Elite (no rating ceiling): $1,225 - $765 - $610 - $460; floor rating USCF Regular 1801 (no unrated players)

FIDE Expert (U2201): $1090 - $680 - $540 - $410; floor rating USCF Regular 1601 (no unrated players)

FIDE Class (U2001): $950 - $595 - $475 - $360; floor rating USCF Regular 1401 (no unrated players)

Traditional five-round format; 2- and 3-day schedules; rounds 1&2 of 2-day schedule are not FIDE rated; 2 optional half-point byes allowed

Time control: 40/90,SD/30;+30 except rounds 1&2 of 2-day schedule G/75;d5

UNDER sections and prizes:

Seniors U1801 (born in or before 1975): $715 - $445 - U1500 $355 - U1300 $270; no floor rating

U1801: $850 - $530 - $425 - $320; floor rating USCF Regular 1201 

U1601: $715 - $445 - $355 - $320; floor rating USCF Regular 1001 

U1401: $580 - $360 - $285 - $220; no floor rating 

U1201: $405 - $255 - $205 - $155; no floor rating

U1001: $270 - $170 - $135 - $105; no floor rating

Unrated players may play in any UNDER section but may not win any prize larger than the 2nd-place prize for the section. For players who are USCF unrated but have a FIDE rating, we will convert the FIDE rating to a USCF equivalent, which will determine section eligibility and pairings. 

Six rounds are scheduled for the UNDER sections; all players must take one zero-point bye for any round so as to play a five-game schedule; 2 optional half-point byes allowed in addition to the required zero-point bye.

Entry fees: $120 through Friday, April 4, $135 thereafter until 8:00 am on Friday, April 11, $150 onsite; re-entry $65 (re-entry available only to players who play the Friday night round)
