The 2025-26 CalChess Team vs. Team is your chance to compete as a team with your friends! This USCF-rated event offers a friendly yet competitive environment to test your skills while gaining valuable experience. Whether you're aiming for personal bests or just some challenging games, this championship is a must-play for dedicated chess enthusiasts.

• You must log in or sign up before you can register.
• Online registration closes at 12:00 a.m. the day of the tournament.
• Onsite registration is subject to availability (additional fee of $44 incurred).
• Late fees applied on January 19 or when reaching capacity.

• Time Control: 5x G/25 d5
• Round Times: 9:00 a.m., 10:40 a.m., 12:20 pm., 2:00 p.m., 3:40 p.m.
• Byes are discouraged for this tournament.

Awards

• DGT North American clocks for:
  • top player on each board.
  • all players of the top team.
• Personal trophies for:
  • all other players with a winning record.
• Medals for:
  • all other players.
• Team trophies for:
  • all players of all other teams with a winning record.
  • top two overall teams.
  • top two school teams.
  • top two club teams.
• Maximum one trophy per player.
• Maximum one trophy per team.

Withdrawals

• Team withdrawals are eligible for a partial refund, subject to the following deductions:
  • until Jan. 18, 4% processing fee.
  • from Jan. 19 to Jan. 20, $33 withdrawal fee + 4% processing fee.
  • from Jan. 21 to Jan. 22, $66 withdrawal fee + 4% processing fee.
  • from Jan. 23 onward, NO REFUND will be issued.
• Individual withdrawals are eligible for a partial refund, subject to the following deductions:
  • until Jan. 18, 4% processing fee.
  • from Jan. 19 to Jan. 20, $11 withdrawal fee + 4% processing fee.
  • from Jan. 21 to Jan. 22, $22 withdrawal fee + 4% processing fee.
  • from Jan. 23 onward, NO REFUND will be issued.
• Only withdrawals made before or on Jan. 22 are eligible for refund.

Change requests

• After registration, changes can be requested at bayareachess.com/changeform and are subject to the following fees:
  • until Jan. 23, $21 for Team Entry, $7 for Individual Entry.
  • from Jan. 24 onward, $45 for Team Entry, $15 for Individual Entry.
• The following requests are exempt from the change fee:
  • playing up to a higher section.
  • updating club and/or school.

Other requirements

• USCF membership must be active.
