• Foreign FIDE-rated players/US FIDE Masters/US players 2300+ FIDE: $150 by 8/15, $175 by 9/15, $200 later
• US players 2200-2299 FIDE: $200 by 8/15, $225 by 9/15, $250 later
• US players 2100-2199 FIDE: $250 by 8/15, $275 by 9/15, $300 later
• US players 2000-2099 FIDE: $300 by 8/15, $325 by 9/15, $350 later

Policies for Byes

Players may request a half-point bye in rounds 1-7 by the start of the tournament. A maximum of two half-point byes is allowed. Zero-point byes are available in any round.

 

Hotel Rates:

$119 for King room or 2 Queens including FREE Breakfast & 5:30 PM Kickback, internet & parking. Many area restaurants are within 1-2 miles from the hotel. For reservations call the hotel at 314-646-0770 and reference Chess SPICE Cup.

 

Important notice for prize winners:

All prizes will be paid within 8 weeks after the conclusion of the tournament.

Prize checks are written only to the winners, not to third parties.

If you are a resident alien: Please complete Form W-9.

If you are a non-resident alien: Please complete Form W-8BEN. We must withhold and send to the IRS 30% of your prize. If your country has a tax treaty with the United States and you have a US Social Security or Tax ID number, you may be able to avoid this withholding by submitting an IRS Form 8233 to us.

IF 30% OF YOUR PRIZE IS WITHHELD AND SUBMITTED TO THE IRS, you will receive a 1042 form in the following calendar year, no later than March. You may use this form to submit a tax return to the IRS, claim expenses, and attempt to recover some or all the withheld tax.
