Event Overview
We are excited to offer a late winter event here in Grand Rapids! Before our Spring West Michigan Championship kicks off we are offering our first ever GR Winter Classic. There is something for everyone. A K-12 Scholastic section, an adult beginner open which does not require a USCF membership, and our open section 4-round USCF rated event.
Location: 1157 Northlawn St NE, Grand Rapids Michigan. Inside Northlawn United Methodist Church.

Winter Swiss
Enjoy a slower time control that will last all day. USCF-rated and MCA membership checked at the door.
Format: Open 4-Round Swiss
Time Control: G/50;d10
Entry Fee: $40 (GRCC Member $35)
Schedule: Round 1 - 9:00AM Round 2 - 12:00, Round 3 - 2:15, Round 4 - 4:30
Prizes (b/30): 1st Place - $250, 2nd Place - $175, Top Female - $175
Adult Beginner Open! (10:00-1:15)
Are you new to chess but want to compete without the USCF rating requirement? Try this event out! 18+ eligible to play.
Format: 4-round Open, Rapid Event! USCF rules will be used to direct the event.
Time Control: G/20;d0
Entry Fee: $25
Schedule: Rounds - 10:00, 11:00, 12:15, 1:15
Prizes (b/10): 1st place - $100
K-12 Scholastic (9:30-12:00)
K-12 students can play in an unrated, fun tournament event!
Format: 5-Round Tournament
Entry Fee: $25
Schedule: Rounds begin at 9:30AM and go until finished.
Prizes (b/10): 1st place - $100, 2nd Place - $50
