THE VENUE:
High atop The Capstone Building on the University of South Carolina campus, you'll play every game with a stunning view as the floor rotates beneath you, giving you a complete 360° vantage of Columbia. Learn more about the venue's interesting history.
THE STAKES:
$3,000 in Guaranteed Prizes, open to players from all states. The titles of South Carolina Rapid Champion and South Carolina Blitz Champion and their respective trophies will be awarded for the top South Carolina Player in the Championship sections.
THE FORMAT AND SCHEDULE:
SC Rapid Championship
7-Round Swiss, G/15;d5.
Three Sections: Championship (Open to anyone); U1600; U1000
Schedule:
- Round 1: 9:30 a.m., Rounds 2 and 3 as soon thereafter as possible.
- Break
- Round 4: 1:00 p.m., Rounds 5-7 as soon thereafter as possible.
SC Blitz Championship
7-Round Double Swiss (each pairing will play two games of alternating color); G/3;+2
Three Sections: Championship (Open to anyone); U1600; U1000
Schedule
- Round 1: 7:00 p.m., Rounds 2-7 as soon thereafter as possible.
- Estimated completion around 10:00 p.m.
Registration
Registration is online only. Players have the option of competing in the Rapid Championship, Blitz Championship, or both.
Rates:
- $70 Rapid and Blitz; $65 Rapid Only; $30 Blitz Only
- Titled Players Free (NM and above, standard entry for Rapid or Blitz deducted from prizes)
