Event Overview

NOTE: This tournament is open to students in Grades K-12.

Sections: Open, U1000, and U600. Note that all sections have grade level and rating requirements. Players must be registered with http://www.uschess.org before the tournament. May ratings will be used. Notation is required and clocks must be used. Players should bring their own if they have one. Sets will be provided. 5 Round Swiss. G/30; d5 for all sections.

Schedule:

8:30 – 8:45 Self-check-in. No section changes after 8:45 AM

8:50 – 8:55 Announcements

9:00 Round 1

Subsequent rounds will start once everyone in the section is finished. Awards will be conducted as sections finish.

Entry Fee: Register at columbuschessacademy.org. $30 for all online registrations until May 6th; thereafter $40 registration fee until 6:00 PM May 12th. No on-site registrations allowed. Two half-point byes may be requested before the start of round 2. USCF discounted membership: $10, must request when registering. Refunds for withdrawals with $5 administrative fee will be given if requested by 6:00 PM, May 12th.  No refunds thereafter. Discounted entry fee for students with financial need are available. Awards: Place trophies awarded to students who score 3.5 points and above, participation medals to all players. Trophies awarded to top 3 teams in each section. NOTE: Teams are not school-based and can be formed in any manner (e.g., teams can have players who go to different schools). Players from the same school are not automatically a part of the team. Teams must be announced beforehand in the notes section when registering or on-site at the tournament before the start of the first round. No changes to teams once the tournament starts. No limit to the number of players on each team, but only the top three players’ scores combined are counted for team points.

Concessions: Concessions will be available on-site for purchase (cash only).

Parking: Players should park in the lot adjacent to the baseball field, East of the high school, and enter through the main front entrance.
