Top Illinois Winner of the Open section represents Illinois at the National Senior Tournament during the U.S. Open July 29 - Aug 1

Eligibility: Tournament open to all born on or before July 29, 1973. Must be 50 or older as of July 29th, 2023. The July date is used instead of May as it is the eligibility date for the National Senior.

Location: Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, 1800 E Golf Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60173

Sections: Open and Reserve (Under 1750 or unrated). Open section is FIDE rated!

Schedule: G/90;+30 - Sat. 10:00am, 3:00pm and Sun: 10:00am, 3:00pm.

One 1/2-point bye available any round, must commit before round 2.

Prizes: $1,000 b/30 paid entries!

• Open Section: $225 - 125 - 75; Under 1950: $70 - 60.
• Reserve (Under 1750) Section: $125 - 70 - 60; Under 1550: $55 - 50; Under 1350: $45 - 40.
• Special upset prize: Ray Doyle Satterlee Upset Prize of $25 each for biggest upset in Open and Reserve sections. These prizes were donated by Ken Marshall.

Unrated players qualify for top prizes only. Sections may be combined depending on attendance. If they are, then prizes will be adjusted to fit the combined section.

Entry Fee:

• $40 online by 5/12
• $55 online by 5/19
• $60 on-site 8:30 - 9:30 am
• Entries after cutoff may receive ½-point bye for round 1.

$5 discount for ICA members (annual dues $15 regular)— join at shop.il-chess.org.

$10 extra to play in Open Section with rating of 1749 and below.

Free entry to Illinois GMs, WGMs, IMs, WIMs, FMs, WFMs.
