Event Overview

Format: 5 Rounds. 1st Round Saturday at 9:15 am. Rounds 1-3 G/60 d5, 4th Round Sunday at 9:15 am. All sections but K-1 rounds 4 & 5 G/90 d5, K-1 Rounds 4 & 5 G/60 d5. Later rounds will start asap each day with a 60min break between rounds 1 & 2 and a 45min break between rounds 4 & 5. The break begins as the last game of the round concludes.

Side Events: Bughouse Tournament: Friday at 7:15 pm, Entry Onsite, $20 per team; Blitz Tournament: G/5 d0, Saturday at 7:00 pm, Entry Onsite, $10; Friends and Family Blitz Tournament: Unrated, G/5 d0, Saturday at 7:00 pm, Entry Onsite, $10.

Awards Ceremony All sections but K-1 at approximately 4:35 pm on Sunday, K-1 at approximately 2:35 pm on Sunday. Note, we do not hold trophies, winners must claim them before departing.  

The state scholastic championship has stipends for nationals. This is also the qualifier for state representatives for National Tournaments each of which has a $5,000 scholarship good for any university or college & a qualifying spot in the world youth tournaments.

Trophies for the Top 10 Individuals and Top 5 Schools in each Championship Section, Top 5 Individual and & Top 3 teams in each under section. Medals for all K-1 participants. Teams must consist of at least 2 players (top four scores count).

Tournament Entry Fee is $40, if received by February 24th, $50 after, for Title I Students $5 less. No onsite entry! Online entry closes at 6:00pm the night before the first round. Coaches, send an email for group registration to the organizer with name, sections, and USCF ID number.

Chess sets will be provided, please bring a chess clock if you have one!
