• 2-day (Sep 3-4)
  • Time Control: Rounds 1-5 G/60 d5; Rounds 6-7 G/90 +30

  • Round Times: Sun 9:00a, 11:35a, 2:10p, 4:45p, 7:20p; Mon 9:15a, 1:45p
• The 4-day and 3-day schedules will merge in Round 2.
• All schedules will merge in Round 6.

Prizes:

• Prize Fund: $21,000 b/243 (60% guaranteed • GPP 30) + trophy to the top player in each section
  • All sections: 1st $1500, 2nd $700, 3rd $300, 4th $300, 5th $200
• Regular entry winners get full calculated prize, Econ entry winners get 50% calculated prize
• Unrated winners: Max $300 (except in the top section)
• If sections are combined, prizes for the sections will be combined and play-up fee for the higher section will be refunded
• A player who withdraws during the tournament is not eligible for prize money
• Prizes can be paid out by check, PayPal or Zelle through bayareachess.com/prizeform

Sections & Bye rules:

• Players will be placed into 7 sections based on September USChess rating supplement: M, X, A, B, C, D, & E.
• A player may play up one higher section, double play up is not allowed
• Players under 1000 must pay the play-up fee to play in section E.
• Section M, X, A, & B are both USCF and FIDE rated. Section C, D, & E are only USCF rated.
• ½-point Byes are available with the following conditions: maximum 3 (more than 3 will be 0-point byes); byes must be requested at least 30 mins before that round's start; changes to last two rounds after round 3 implies player donating earned prize money to BAC
