GENERAL INFORMATION

  • 22 or 23-24 April 2022, Waterville Grand Hotel, 375 Main St., Waterville, ME
  • Room rate $89/night; ask for the Maine Chess rate (call 207.873.0111)
  • US Chess and FIDE rated (Open section only), memberships available
  • Five-round Swiss in three sections and two schedules (3-day and 2-day, schedules will merge time control and round times in third round)
  • U1000 section is four rounds on Saturday only (G/45, +5; rounds at 10, 12, 1:40, 3:15)
  • Half-point byes available rounds 1-3 (1 hour in advance)
  • MECA membership required ($12 adult, $6 scholastic)

3-DAY SCHEDULE

  • Time Control: 40/90 SD/30 +:30
  • Round times at 5:00 PM Friday, 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM Saturday, 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Sunday
  • Registration 3:30 to 4:30 PM Friday afternoon

 

2-DAY SCHEDULE

  • Time Control: Round 1 and 2: G/65 +:05; Rounds 3-5: 40/90 SD/30 +:30
  • Round times at 9:30 AM, 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM Saturday, 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Sunday
  • Registration 8:30 to 9:30 AM Saturday

ENTRY FEES:

  • OPEN $35 advance, $40 at site
  • U1500 $25 advance, $30 at site
  • U1000 $15 advance, $20 at site

PRIZES:

  • Open Section (guaranteed)
    • $300/$200/$100, top U1800 $75
    • Top scoring Maine resident is Maine State Champion and wins the C. Stuart Laughlin Trophy
  • U1500 Section (guaranteed)
    • $200/$125/$75, top U1200 $50
  • U1000 Section
    • Trophies for top three scorers
