The 2022 Louisiana State Chess Championship is organized this year by Downriver Chess Club and will take place at Loyola University in New Orleans. The winner of this annual event is crowned the Louisiana State Chess Champion. This is an official, Louisiana Chess Association-sanctioned event.

Tournament details: Six round, one-section, swiss system, G/90;i30, USCF classical-rated tournament. Tournament directors may choose to accelerate pairings if over 64 players arrive to compete.

 

Prize fund: $2,500 in total prizes. $1,000 first overall, $500 second overall, $300 U2000, $250 U1800, $200 U1600, $150 U1400 & unrated, $100 U1000. Total prize fund b/60 with 50% guaranteed. Trophy and title of 2022 Louisiana Chess Champion goes to first overall.

 

Date: 2022 Labor Day weekend, September 3-5. Round times 10AM & 3:30PM. LCA meeting at 2:00PM on Sunday. Side events TBD.

 

Venue: The Audubon Room, on the second floor of Loyola University’s Danna Center, located at 6363 St Charles Ave. Complimentary parking available in the West Road Garage. Parking map here. Skittles/overflow room located in the adjacent Octavia Room.

 

Eligibility: $75 entry fee if purchased by 8/31/22. $100 at the door. Capacity limited to first 120 players, please pre-register to guarantee your slot. LCA Dues: All Louisiana registrants automatically become Louisiana Chess Association members for one calendar year.

 

Hotel info: We recommend St Charles Inn, Superior Hotel at 3636 St Charles Ave, just a short streetcar ride from Loyola University, although any of these hotels should be easily accessible as well. None of these options are in connection to the tournament or tournament organizers—these are just our recommendations.
