Event Overview

Sections: (eligibility based on November US Chess ratings)

  • 2 Non-rated: Grades K-3, 4-6.  Players with 10 or more rated games, or 25 or more prior tournament games (including non-rated), are not eligible.  May enter one section higher if needed to stay with team.
  • 3 Rated: (including unrated and provisionally rated players), all K-12: U600, U900, Open

Format: Rated Sections: 5 rounds G/30, d5.  Nonrated: 5 rounds G/20, d0. 

  • Pairings: Rated sections Swiss; nonrated 1v2 by grade.
  • Clocks: Not provided.  Required in rated sections, we strongly advise you bring one.  Not required in non-rated sections but may be used if both players agree.  Sets provided.
  • Byes: One ½-point bye any round if requested before round 2 is paired.
  • Notation: Required in Open, U900 & U600.  Players in grades K-3 may be excused but lose the right to make certain claims.  Not required in nonrated sections.

Schedule: 9–9:30am self check in, 9:45am announcements.  10am round 1, subsequent rounds asap.  Awards as each section finishes.

Awards: Trophies to top players in each section, participation medals to all others.  Trophies to top school teams each section.
