Registration: Players are strongly recommended to register online. All registration closes 1 hour before round.
Time Controls: Championship Section: G/90, increment 30. U2000 through U1000 Sections: G/120, increment 5. All 2-Day Rounds 1 and 2: G/45, increment 5. Scholastic U700 and U400 Sections: G/25; increment 5.
Prizes/Sections:
$12,000 Guaranteed Prizes! (increased $2000 from previous years)
Championship Section: $1200 – $600 – $400 – $200, top u2200 $400 – $200. FIDE-rated.
Under 2000: $800 – $400 – $250 - $150. FIDE-rated.
Under 1800: $800 – $400 – $250 - $150.
Under 1600: $800 – $400 – $250 - $150.
Under 1400: $600 – $400 – $250 - $150.
Under 1200: $600 – $400 – $250 - $150.
Under 1000: $600 – $400 – $250 - $150.
Must be within 100 points of next section cutoff to play up. Plaques to first place in each section.
Side Events:
Under 700 Saturday Scholastic: Trophies to top 10.
Under 400 Saturday Scholastic: Trophies to top 10.
Free $500 Blitz: $500 in prizes. Free entry for Carolinas Classic players, $20 for others.
Schedule:
3-Day Schedule: Friday: 6:30pm, Saturday: 11:00am & 4:30pm, Sunday: 10:00am & 3:30pm
2-Day Schedule: Saturday 11:00am and 1:30pm then merge with 3-day schedule, Saturday 4:30pm, Rounds 1 & 2 played at G/45;+5 time control.
Saturday Scholastic (U700 & U400): Saturday: 10:30am, 12:15pm, 1:30pm, 2:45pm, 4:00pm. Awards ceremony 5:15pm.
FREE $500 Blitz: Saturday Night 9:00pm, 6 Rounds - US Chess Blitz Rated - Prize Breakdown TBD
