2021 GR Fall Action Challenge

Join us in September for our exciting action tournament! Five competitive rounds of chess in three different sections. This is a great event to jump into for your first experience at a tournament. It is also a great chance to sharpen your play for other tournaments. Join us at the Grand Rapids Chess Center for a fun one-day event with a nice prize fund! Action time controls allow for several games in one day and yet long enough for interesting and quality chess. Come out for a great challenge! Please bring a board and clock if you have a standard tournament set.

When: September 18th, 2021
Where: 1157 Northlawn St NE, Grand Rapids MI – GRCC Main Campus

Sections: Premiere (1500+), Reserve (Unrated-1499), Scholastic Section (Students, K-12). NOTE: Published USCF-ratings will be used to place into sections. Exemptions may be requested by players but would be under the discretion of the Grand Rapids Chess Center.

Premiere & Reserve:
GRCC-Members: $35
Non-Members: $40

Scholastic:
GRCC Kidz Members: $25
Non-Members: $30

Time Control: G/30;d5 (30 minutes per-player with a 5-second delay)

Round 1: 9:30
Round 2: 11:00
Round 3: 1:00
Round 4: 2:30
Round 5: 4:15

Prizes (b/40-50):

Premiere: 1st Place – $500
Reserve: 1st Place – $300
Scholastic: Trophies 1st, 2nd, 3rd

Note: Prizes are based upon the number participants (estimated 40-50) and may be increased/decreased based upon attendance. Premiere is guaranteed at $400.
