1st Silicon Valley Open

1st Silicon Valley Open. 777 Bellew Dr, Milpitas, CA 95035. Tournament has two Sections. 

Prizes: $3,900 based on 80 fully paid entries. Open Section = 1st: $1,000, 2nd: $500, 3rd: $350, Top U2200, $250. Reserve Section (U2000) = 1st: $800, 2nd: $400, 3rd: $250, Top U1700: $200, Top U1400: $150

Open Section: Open to players rated 2000 or above. Open section is FIDE rated and USCF Rated, but uses FIDE playing rules. Early online registration before 5/6 is $100, afterwards it will be $120. Registration will close at Friday noon. There will be no onsite registration. Please register at www.sjchessclub.com. Play up is only allowed for 1800+, $20 extra to play up.

GM/IM/WGM/WIM receive free entry with no prize deduction until 5/18. After that $100 prize reduction. Please email Click here to show email address to enter.

Both: 5SS, G/90; 30 second increment. Rds. Sat 5/22: 9:00 am, 1:30 pm, 6:15 pm, Sun: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. USCF rules/ratings used for awarding prizes. USCF ratings used for pairing purposes. Registration must be done online at www.sjchessclub.com.  Note that entries are capped at 100 due to social distancing rules in effect during the dates of the tournament.   

COVID-19 procedures: To ensure safety we will require all players to wear a mask at all times. We will also be providing latex gloves to anyone who wants them. After each round the boards, tables, and seats will be sanitized. Pairings and Standings will be online.

Boards are provided, but players should bring clocks!
