5-Round Swiss, USCF-Rated Tournament

Tournament capacity: 60 players

 1. Dates & Location

• Saturday, October 19, 2024

 • Location: 1662 SANDERLING AVE, MANTECA, CA 95337

 2. Tournament Format:

  • Tournament Format: Individual Swiss
  • Total Rounds: 5
  • Round Times: Saturday 11:00 am, 12:20 pm, 02:00 pm, 3:10 pm, 4:20 pm followed by prize distribution
  • Time Control: G30;D0  (Each player will get 30 minutes with a 0-second delay after each move.)
  • Games will be US Chess regular-rated. Tournament results will be submitted after the last round is finished.
  • Sections: U300, U600 and U1200. U300 and U600 are scholastic and U1200 adults can participate.
  • Pairings are based on the Oct 2024 supplemental regular US Chess ratings.
  • Unrated players can only play in the any section.
  • To request any change, please send email with player name and USCF ID one day before the tournament.

 3. Byes

  • 0.5 Byes are available for players in any round in case they can’t participate but would like to stay in the tournament. 
  • A maximum of 1 half-point byes can be requested in this tournament. 
  • Round 1-5 byes must be requested 15 minutes prior to the round start time.
  • Late registrations will receive a half-point bye for any missed round, up to a total of 2 rounds.
  • To request a bye after registration, please send email to learningpawn@gmail.com.

 4. Prize Fund

  • Top 5 will receive trophy on each section.

 5. Registration

  • Entry Fee: $40 (Entry Fee needs to send through zelle or paypal WITH ‘FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY’ OPTION to learningpawn@gmail.com ) and $50 for adults (age 18 above)
  •  Late fee on the day of the tournament: $10 after October 17, 2024
  •  $10 admin fee for all cancellations & refunds.

6. Eligibility

  • Players must have current US Chess Federation membership. Expiration date of their US Chess membership must be later than the last day of the tournament.

 7. Tournament Rules

  • Standard US Chess apply.
  • Forfeit time is 30 minutes. Please be considerate of your opponent, and don’t be late! Let us know if you can’t make it to one round! 

8. FAQ

  • What do the time controls mean?

          The time controls tell you how much time you have for each game.
          For example, G30;D0 means game in 30 minutes with a 0-second delay with each move. This means you get 30 minutes, your opponent

         gets 30 minutes, and at each move 0 seconds are delay to your clock

  • How many games/rounds?

         The 5SS before the time control means there are 5 rounds or 5 games a player can play in the tournament. 

         The tournaments are never elimination, so win or lose you can stay in the tournament.
