Event Overview

6-Round SWISS — FULL WEEKEND, FIDE-RATED Tournament (MASTER, EXPERT Section Only)

1. Dates & Location

   Saturday, March 22 – Sunday, March 23

   Location: Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Ln, Manteca CA 95337

 

2. Tournament Format:

   Tournament Format: Individual Swiss

   Total Rounds: 6

   Round Times: Saturday 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM 6:00 PM AND Sunday 09:00 AM, 1:00 PM 5:00 PM

   Time Control: G/90+5S INC  (GAME IN 90 Minutes With A 5-Second Increment After Each Move.)

   Games will be US Chess Regular-Rated AND Fide-Rated. Tournament Results will be submitted immediately after the Last Round is Finished.

   Sections: MASTER (2000+), EXPERT(2000-) AND U1400.

   Pairings are based on the March 2024 Supplemental Regular US CHESS Ratings.

   PLAY-UP : No Play up for 2000+ Rated Tournament, and but allowed in Expert Section

   Unrated players can only play in the U1400 section.

   SCHOLASTIC SECTION

   Total Round: 5

   Section : U300, U600, U1000

   Round Time : 10:00AM, 11:20AM, 01:00AM, 2:30PM, 4:00PM followed by Prize distribution

   Time Control: G30;D0  

 

3. BYES

   Byes are available for players in any round in case they can’t participate but would like to stay in the tournament.

   A Maximum of 2 half-point byes can be requested in this tournament. Round 1-3 byes must be requested 30 minutes

   prior to the round start time. Round 4 byes must be requested before the start of round 3. 

   Round 4 bye is irrevocable to prevent prize-fund manipulations. 

   Late Registrations will receive a half-point bye for any missed round up to a total of 1 rounds.

4. PRIZE FUND

   Prize Distribution BASED on a minimum of 20 entries per section 

   Place           Master    Expert     U1400

   1st Place     $500       $350         $200

   2nd Place   $300      $200         $100

   3rd Place    $200     $100          $50

   4th Place    $100     $50            $25

   5th Place    $50       $50            $25

   Additional Cash Prize Distribution:  If there are more than 20 Entries in any Section, 60% of the additional Entry fees 

   collected will be distributed as Bonus Prizes, prorated across the Placements.

   Please Allow 1-2 Weeks For Processing Prize. Per IRS Rules Anyone With A Cumulative $600+ Prizes in Any Calendar Year will need 

   To fill out a W-9 form and Learning Pawn will be Providing a 1099 form at the end of the Calendar Year.

 

5. REGISTRATION

  Onsite registration: Saturday, March 22: 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM

  Entry Fee: MASTER (2000+) – $150, EXPERT(2000-) – $100 AND U1400 – $70,

  SCHOLASTIC(U300, U600, U1000) – $50 BY MARCH 19 AFTER THAT $20 EXTRA.  

  Entry Fee Needs To Send Through Zelle or paypal with ‘for friends and family’

  Play-up for Member: $20 (No Play up for Master Section)

  Late Fee on the Day of the Tournament: $20

  10% Of Entry fee will be charged for all cancellations & refunds before .

  Free Entry For GM/IM/WGM/WIMS And 2300+ Rated players by March 14.

6. ELIGIBILITY

   Players Must Have Current US CHESS FEDERATION MEMBERSHIP. 

   Expiration Date Of Their US CHESS  MEMBERSHIP must be later than the last day of the Tournament.

7. TOURNAMENT RULES

   Standard US CHESS and modified FIDE rules apply. Forfeit time is 60 minutes. please be considerate of your opponent, and

   don’t be late! let us know if you can’t make it to one round!

 

8. FAQ

   What do the time controls mean? the Time Controls tell you how much time you have for each game. for example, g/90+5inc means game in  90

   minutes with a 5-second increment with each move. This means you get 90 minutes, your opponent gets 90 minutes, and at each move 5 seconds

  are added to your clock.

  How Many Games/Rounds? The 6SS Before The Time Control Means There Are SIX Rounds OR Six Games A Player Can play

  In the Tournament. The Tournaments are never elimination, so win or lose you can stay in the Tournament.
