17th annual Philadelphia Open. 5SS, 40/80, SD/30, d30 (2-day option, rds 1-2 G/60 d10), Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown (see World Open for location, rates, parking),  $15,000 guaranteed prizes. In 4 sections. Major: Open to 1900/above. $2000-1000-600-400, clear/tiebreak winner $100 bonus, top USCF U2300 $600-300. FIDE. Under 2100: $1200-600-400-300, top Under 1900/Unr $500-300. FIDE. Under 1800: $1200-600-400-300, top Under 1600 (no Unr) $400-200. Under 1500: $1000-500-300-200, top Under 1300 (no Unr) $400-200. Mixed doubles bonus prizes: best male/female 2-player team combined score among all sections: $500-300-200. Must average under 2200; may play different sections; register (no extra fee) by 2 pm Sat. Unrated prize limits: U1500 $200, U1800 $400. Playing up in Major: see peakrating.us. EF: $118 online at chessaction.com by 6/21, all $140 (no checks, credit cards OK) at site, or online until an hour before round 1. GMs $100 from prize. Unofficial uschess.org ratings usually used if otherwise unrated. If online regular rating is 50 or more points over section or prize maximum, prize limit $200. Special 1 year USCF dues with magazine if paid online with entry. Adult $40, Young Adult $25, Youth $18. Re-entry $50; no Major to Major. 3-day schedule: Reg ends Fri 6 pm, rds.
