Texas June Scholastic Scholarship Event

Location: DFW Marriott DFW Airport South; 4151 Centreport Drive.

2 Sections: K-12 Championship and K-12 U1400

Each section will award trophies to the top 12 individual players and top 2 teams. Winner of the Championship section will win a $1000 scholarship. During lunch break, a mini blitz (speed chess) event will take place. The blitz event will award trophies to the top 6 players overall and a $200 scholarship to the winner. Full scholarship awards based on 60 fully paid main event entrees.

5 Rounds G30 D5. USCF Rated. First round at 9:00 AM, rounds continuous with a lunch break after round 3. Boards provided, players can optionally bring clocks. Be sure to show up before 8:40 AM for the introduction.

Projected schedule: 1st round, 9:00AM. 2nd round, 10:20AM. 3rd round, 11:40AM. Lunch break, 1:00PM-2:30PM. 4th round, 2:30PM. 5th round, 3:50PM. Awards ceremony, 5:20PM.

The blitz mini event will take place during the first half of lunch break from 1:00pm-1:45pm, leaving plenty of time for the blitz participants to get lunch afterwards. Blitz registration is only online, there will be no onsite registration. The blitz event will be four rounds of G/3;D/2. Trophies awarded to top 6 players individually and a $200 scholarship will be awarded to the winner.

None of the scholarships will be split, if multiple players have the same score the winner will be determined by the best tiebreaks.

Covid procedures: To ensure safety we will require all players to where a mask at all times. Masks will be provided but we encourage you to bring your own. We will also be providing gloves to anyone who wants them. After each round the boards and tables will be sanitized.
