Event Overview

The Springfield, MO. Chess Club Summer Open will be held from July 16 to July 18 at the South Side Senior Center.

Blitz Tournament – Friday July 16
The seven-round Swiss G/5;d0 (5 minutes per player each game) will be held on our usual meeting time at the South Side Senior Center (2215 S. Fremont Ave. Springfield, MO. 65804). Round 1 begins at 7:30. USCF blitz rated. $6 entry. Half will be donated to the senior center and half will go into a prize fund for the winner of the blitz tournament.

G/90;d15 – Saturday July 17 and Sunday July 18
The five-round Swiss G/90;d15 (90 minutes per player with 15 second delay per move) will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the South Side Senior Center (2215 S. Fremont Ave. Springfield, MO. 65804). Saturday rounds 10:30, 2:15, and 5:30. Sunday rounds 10:30, 2:15. USCF rated. $15 entry. Open and Under 1400 section (may be combined if low turnout). Prizes – $50 to 1st in the open, $30 to 2nd in the open, $30 to 1st in the U1400. The remainder of entry fees will be donated to the South Side Senior Center.

Players may enter one or both events. Entry fees are $6 for the blitz tournament and $15 for the G/90;d15 tournament.

The tournament entrants will have to abide by the senior center’s Covid precautions at the time of the event.

US Chess Federation membership is required to play in rated events. If you need more information on joining the USCF please email me.

Scholastic players (k-12) may play in the blitz tournament for free.

If your scholastic player does not have a USCF membership or if it has expired, please contact me for a discounted membership.
