World Series of Online Chess

This tournament will happen four times per year as part of the new quarterly World Series of Online Chess. View the information about the inaugural tournament below.

When/Where: Saturday, February 15th at 12 pm/noon Eastern Time (11 am CT, 10 am MT, or 9 am PT) on lichess.org

Format: 6 rounds, game 25;+5, USCF-online-regular rated, two sections (K-12 & K-5)

Prizes: Trophies mailed to 1st through 6th place winners in each section. In the K-5 section, there is also a trophy for the top player in grade 3 or below.

  • Special prizes will also be awarded for the top 3 finishers in each section. The 1st place winner of each section will receive three months of free DMV Chess online tournaments entries as well as a free entry into one of our online courses for one month. 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each section will receive free online tournament entries for one month.
  • Cumulative Prizes: We encourage players to compete in multiple events. Kids may compete in all three world series events (scholastic, open, and blitz). Adults may compete in both the open and blitz tournaments. The scholastic player with the highest score across all three events will be mailed a special trophy. The open player with the highest score in the open and blitz events combined will receive a $100 cash prize. If both cumulative prizes are won by the same player, only one prize will be awarded.

Entry Fee Schedule (Signup Early!): $15 by 1/25, $20 by 2/1, $23 by 2/8, $26 by 2/14, and $30 on the day of the tournament. Note that the registration must be completed by 11:59 pm ET to be counted as received on that day.
