Downriver Chess presents the 2024-2025 New Orleans Scholastic Championship!
All K-12 players are eligible to compete! Winners crowned New Orleans scholastic champions! Five rounds!
Date: Saturday, May 3, 2025
Format: Five round swiss format, G/25;d5 tournament. Five sections: K-2; K-4; K-6; K-8, K-12
Venue: St Catherine of Siena Catholic School, 400 Codifer Blvd, Metairie, LA 70005
Prizes: Individual and team trophies in each section
Registration: 8:45AM-9:15AM. Anyone not registered by 9:15AM will be given a first round bye
Check in: Check in is not necessary if your name is on the entry list of the King Registration page and there are no problems listed
Round times: 10 AM, 11:15 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:45 PM, 3:00 PM
Entry fee: $30 if received by midnight one week before the event date (Saturday night). $35 if received by midnight two days before (Thursday night). $40 day before or same day (Friday-Saturday).
USCF requirement: Current USCF membership required, join here. If your membership does not have an expiration date, it is not yet current.
Discount codes: Use code FAMILY for a $5 discount when registering multiple siblings of the same family. Use code LUNCH for a $10 discount if student or family receives free or reduced lunch benefits.

Byes: Two half-point byes available upon request. All byes must be requested before round 3, with exceptions made for emergency situations. All bye requests final after beginning of round 1.
Teams: Teams are comprised of the top four players per school per grade section. Minimum two players to qualify as a team. Team totals are calculated using cumulative score of each player.
Late arrivals: Games are forfeited 30 minutes after the round start time if a player has not arrived.
Refunds: Players who withdraw 30 minutes before round one are eligible for a refund of their entry fee, minus any applicable payment-processor fees (typically 5-7%).
