(Doors Open at 6:30PM; Round starts at 7:00PM; One game per Wednesday, 2 Sections);

LOCATION:  Play More Chess Academy, Home of the Hamden Chess Club, 1227 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06517

Two Sections; Time Control G/60, d5 for both sections

PRIZES ($200+)
The top adult (18 or older) in each section wins choice of $50 cash or $50 gift card to USCF Sales.
The top junior (under 18) in each section wins choice of $50 cash or $50 gift card to USCF Sales.
All perfect scores (must play all four games) will receive a 3-month HCC Membership extension/or initial 3-month HCC membership. (value: approx $30 depending on membership type)

PRIZE LIMITS: No Prize limits for unrated players

PLAY UP LIMIT: 100 Points. (Players with rating 1500-1599 may choose to play in either section).

ELIGIBILITY:  A current USCF membership is required to play in this tournament (see link in notes below to join or renew. This tournament is open to all players ages 13+ of any rating, including Unrated.  Players under age 13 may sign up if their rating is 700+. (Players new to chess tournaments are encouraged to try our monthly HCC U1200 Beginner Open tournaments).

BYES:  Up to two half point byes are available for any round which a player cannot attend. Half point byes must be declared by Noon Wed of the entry (final) deadline (12:00PM-Noon on day of 4th Rd). Note: TD can not guarantee pairings but will make every effort to get all registered players a rated game - if there is an odd number of players in a section the lowest rated player may receive a forced bye (1 point). NO SHOW FEE: A no-show charge of $25 will be incurred if player does not show up for a round and has not declared

a bye (either a half point or zero point bye).

QUIET PLEASE: Playing area must remain quiet (Players can leave as soon as their Wednesday game finishes)

ENTRY FEE:  

Early entry (by 11:59PM Wednesday prior):  $25; (Non-HCC Member: Additional $20 Fee);  Free Early entry for titled players (Fide: GM, IM, FM and USCF NM with no entry fee deducted from prize) then

Regular/Late entry (by 12:00PM - Noon 4th Wednesday/4th Round of tournament): $30; (Non-HCC Member: Additional $20 fee); Anyone who registers will receive byes (for any rounds that were missed). A maximum of two half-point byes are available.

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION:  Free parking is available on behind the Academy, including free street parking on Putnam/Lake Drive that goes behind the Academy; additional free parking at 60 Putnam Ave (one block West) (See Parking Map).  CT Transit bus stop is adjacent to Academy at intersection of Putnam/Whitney Ave.
USCF MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED: All players must be current members of US Chess (go to USCHESS.org to join or renew your USCF membership/membership ID number. Include Hamden Chess Club Affiliate ID #A6054128 for HCC to receive credit. 

EQUIPMENT: Chess sets, boards, DGT clocks provided (must use our equipment).  Score sheets and pens are also provided.
