Fredericksburg Open Blitz

Hotel & Playing Site: Country Inn & Suites South in Fredericksburg, VA. Same location as the Fredericksburg Open on Oct 30-31. Chess Rate for lodging is $79 + taxes, must reserve by Oct 22nd. Tp reserve a room, call the hotel at 540-898-1800 and mention "the Chess Tournament."

Format: 4 Double-Rounds, Swiss System. Everyone plays 2 games per round (1 game as White, the other as Black).  All games are US Chess-rated. Time Control is Game-in-5 minutes, no time delay or increment.

Sections: Open and Under 1600. No unrated players in the Open Section. 

Ratings for Sectioning and Prizes: We will use the higher of your Over-the-Board and Online BLITZ ratings from the October 2021 US Chess Rating Supplement.

Entry Fees: $30 through Sat 10/23; $40 beginning Sun 10/24 and onsite

Registration: Online at www.vachess.org; or onsite 4-6:30PM Fri 10/29.

Prizes: Based on 20 players.
-- Open Section (1st-3rd): $180, $100, $50
-- Under 1600 Section (1st-3rd): $130, $60, $30

Schedule and Time Controls:
-- Round 1 at 7PM Friday Oct 29th.  Rounds 2-4 as soon as possible.
