Friday Pizza Quads - North

A three round US Chess-rated tournament open to all scholastic (K-12) players. Quads, which group students in sections of 4 by their rating level, are a great way for students to get closer matchups for a more fun and competitive challenge. The best part is that it comes with dinner, pizza!

During the Fall and Spring seasons, this event does count for eligibility towards the Tournament of Champions.

REGISTRATION

Limited to first 42 to register. Registration must be completed online ahead of the event.

REQUIREMENTS

• Ages 17 and under

• Participants must be members of the US Chess Federation

• US Chess is the governing body of chess in the US and conducts all of the rating calculations for players. Need a US Chess Membership? Purchase through the CCC and save!

Round 1: 7:00pm 

Round 2: ASAP

Round 3: ASAP

Approximate End Time: 9:00pm

 

Pizza served after students finish their first round game.

HOW IT WORKS

• Players must register weekly and in advance 

• 3 US Chess regular and quick rated games every Friday night

• Quad format - students placed into groups of 4 by their most current "live" US Chess regular rating to ensure closer matchups.

• Each evening will be limited to the first 42 players to register 

• Entries are first registered, first served

• Quads are for students (K-12) only​

Medal to winner of each quad

G/20; Increment 10

Each player receives 20 minutes plus a 10 second bonus each move to complete each game

Players currently rated 1200+: FREE Entry (see special notes for details)

CCC Members: $22.50

Non-Members: $27.50

The Charlotte Chess Center’s North Branch is conveniently located off of I-485 and Benfield Road. Opened in September of 2023, the CCC’s North Branch serves North Charlotte, University City, Concord, Kannapolis, Harrisburg, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Lake Norman, and Mooresville. Regulars visit from both North Carolina and South Carolina.
