Format: Swiss System
Total Rounds: 3
Time Control: G/60+5 (60 minutes with 5-second increment)
Sections: 1600+, Under 1600

Round Schedule (November 7):
Round 1: 10:00 am | Round 2: 1:00 pm | Round 3: 3:30 pm

Pairings are based on the November 2026 regular supplemental US Chess rating.

PRIZE FUND
Total Prize Fund: $560 (tentative, based on 40 paid entries)

1600+ Section: 1st $140 | 2nd $90 | 3rd $70
Under 1600 Section: 1st $120 | 2nd $80 | 3rd $60

Prize checks processed within 2–3 weeks. Per IRS regulations, anyone receiving $2000+ in cumulative prizes during a calendar year must complete a W-9.

BYES
A maximum of two half-point byes can be requested in this tournament.
Late registrations will receive a half-point bye for any missed round.

ELIGIBILITY
Players must be 18 years of age or older.
Players must have a current US Chess Federation membership valid through the last day of the tournament.

TOURNAMENT RULES
Forfeit time: 30 minutes without prior notice; 60 minutes with prior notice (email [email protected] to request).
Clocks provided and set up by the club.
Games are US Chess regular rated.

SICK POLICY
The Mechanics' Institute Chess Club asks that any player who is feeling unwell withdraw from the tournament to help protect the health of others. Players who withdraw due to illness before the start will receive a full refund as a credit to their Jumbula account.
