2024-2025 GREATER CLEVELAND SCHOLASTIC CHESS LEAGUE
4 Monthly Tournaments in 8 Sections for All Levels!  
Friendly competition, great value, flexible options!        

Schedule and Format:  4 Round Swiss.  Doors Open: 8:30am, 1st Game: 10am Sharp.  Mandatory Check-In: 8:30-9:45 at site to be paired for round one!

Estimated completion: K-2 Section: 1:30, Championship & U1500: 3:30, Other Sections: 2:30. All play 4 games, no elimination. Recording of moves is not required in the lower sections.  Unrated players may choose any grade appropriate section.

Sections:

Championship – Open to all scholastic players!

Under 1500 – Players from all Grades with ratings below 1500

HS Premier – Players from Grades 9-12 with ratings below 1000

MS Premier – Players from Grades 6-8 with ratings below 1000

Elem Premier – Players from Grades K-5 with ratings below 1000

MS Reserve – Players from Grades 6-8 with ratings below 500

Elem 3-5 Reserve – Grades 3-5 with ratings below 500

Primary K-2 Reserve – Grades K-2 with ratings below 500

 

Time limit: Championship and Under 1500: G/30; d5, All other sections: G/25; d5.

Awards: Trophies to top 5 players in each section at each event, and all players scoring 3 or more points. Participation medals to all players at each event. Everyone is a winner! Byes: A maximum of one 1/2 point bye for rounds 1-3 may be requested before round 2 pairings are posted. No 4th round 1/2 point byes.

Team Awards: Team trophies will be presented to the top 3 school teams in each section at the last event, based on the accumulated scores from the best three tournaments. Team scores at each event are determined in each section by adding the best 4 individual scores (in the same section) per school. A minimum of two players in the same section for each school are required to have a team score for that event.

Scholarship Prizes:  $1,500 in College Scholarship money awarded;  determined by adding the scores from each player’s best three events.  Championship 1st Place $1,000, Championship 2nd Place $500.

Fees: $80 for all four league events, or $30 per tournament. 
No on-site registration!! Registration will close at 8PM the night before each event!
