Hotel & Playing Site: Marriott Washington-Dulles Airport, 45020 Aviation Drive, Dulles VA.  Chess Rate for lodging is $112 + taxes, must reserve by Oct 29th. To reserve a room, call the hotel at 703-471-9500 and mention "Virginia Chess Federation" as our group name.

Format: 5 Rounds, Swiss System (this is not an elimination tournament). All games shall be rated by FIDE and US Chess. There is a 30-minute "No Show / Default" rule in effect for all 5 rounds (e.g., Player's late for their game by more than 30 minutes will be forfeited).  FIDE RULES are in effect for the tournament.

Sections: All players play in one section. 

Ratings for Sectioning and Prizes: We will use the higher of your Over-the-Board and Online regular ratings from the November 2021 US Chess Rating Supplement.

Entry Fees: $100 through Sat 11/13; $115 beginning Sun 11/14 through Wed 11/17; increases to $125 on Thu 11/18 and on-site

Registration: Online at www.vachess.org; or onsite 4-9PM Fri 11/19 and 7-8:45AM Sat 11/20.  Players not registered by 8:45 risk not being paired for Round 1.  Advance registrations can be viewed online at www.vachess.org..

Prizes: Based on 80 registered players.
-- 1st to 5th Places ($1000, $650, $400, $225, $180).
-- Top & 2nd Expert ($165, $82.50). Top & 2nd Class A/Unrated ($160, $80).  Top & 2nd Class B ($155, $77.50.  Top & 2nd Class C ($150, $75).  Top & 2nd Class D ($140, 70).  Top, 2nd & 3rd U1200 ($130, $65, $45).  Unrated player winning a place prize limited to $250.

Schedule and Time Controls:
-- Sat Nov 20: Rounds 1-3 at 9:30AM, 2PM and 7PM (G/90, + 30)
-- Sun Nov 21: Rounds 4 and 5 at 9:30AM and 3:30PM (40/90, SD/30, + 30)
-- Separate FIDE-rated Blitz on Friday evening, Nov 19th (see separate online TLA)
