2021 New Mexico Championship Open

Four Sections: Open, Reserve (U1800), Novice (U1400), Scholastic 4/SS

Prizes:

Open 1st $1,000 GTD, 2nd $250 (B/30), U2000 $100 (B/30)

Reserve (B/30): $450, $225, U1600 $100

Novice (B/30) $400, $200, U1100 $100

Scholastic 1-3rd Medals for K-5, 6-8, 9-12

1. Top finishing NM resident will be crowned 2021 State Champion; in the event of a tie, top finishers will be named co-champions;
2. prize money to be awarded based on finishing placement regardless of residency; in the event of a 4-0 tie, a playoff will be held 20 minutes after all games have completed, otherwise all prize money will be split equally,
3. unrated players in Reserve/Novice Sections are eligible for only ½ total cash payout,
4. plaque to be awarded to 1st place finisher in Open Section.

Entry Fees: Open, Reserve, Novice: $60. Scholastic: $20. U1800 players desiring to play in the Open Section: +$40.

Early Registration Discount: Open, Reserve, Novice: $20 off if registered by 11/21/21, $10 off if registered by 11/30/21. Scholastic: None.

Registration: USCF Membership required all sections.  Online registration open until 12:00pm on 12/10/21.

Onsite Registration: 8:00-8:30am on 12/11/21

Schedule: Open, Reserve, Novice: Rds Sat. 9:00am, 2:30pm. Sun. 9:00am, 2:30pm.  Scholastic: Rds Sat. 10:00am, 11:15am, 2:00pm, 3:15pm.  Bye Policy: Unlimited 0-point byes if requested prior to start of first round.

Membership Meeting: Sunday (12/12/21) at 1:45pm.

Time Control: Open, Reserve, Novice: G/120 d10. Scholastic: G/30 d5.

Blitz Tournament: 12/11/21 7:30pm, $25 Entry Fee, G/5, no delay, prizes (B/$$), $10 discount if participating in the simultaneous or the tournament.

Simul: Grandmaster Fidel Corrales Jimenez is holding a simultaneous exhibition on Friday night (12/10/21) starting at 6:00pm. $25 to play, open to the first 30 registrants.  Nonrefundable.

COVID Policy: Masks must be worn in all public spaces fully covering nose/mouth.  Players encouraged to sanitize hands frequently and chess sets/clocks between rounds.  Players feeling ill to withdraw immediately (NMCO will issue credit towards future event on pro rata basis).  NMCO reserves the right to remove players from tournament if visibly ill.
