The US Open has one section, in which anyone can enter. This event is NOT rated by FIDE.
9 Round Swiss with 3 Schedules
7-Day Schedule: 7pm 7/28, 10am & 7pm 7/29, 10am & 7pm 7/30, 7pm 7/31, 7pm 8/1, 7pm 8/2, 3pm 8/3.
5-Day Schedule: First 5 rounds 3pm & 7pm 7/30, 10am, 3pm & 7pm 7/31; round 6 at 12 noon 8/1. (Round 6 is played at the 7-day schedule time control. Then the 5-day schedule merges into the 7-day schedule for round 7 at 7pm on 8/1.)
4-Day Schedule: First 6 rounds 10am, 3pm, 7pm & 10pm 7/31; 12 noon & 3pm 8/1. (Then it merges into the 7-day schedule for round 7 at 7pm on 8/1.)
All schedules merge after Round 6 and compete for the same prizes.
Time Control:
7-Day Schedule: all rounds 40/100, SD/30, inc/30 (30-second increment from move one)
5-Day Schedule: rounds 1-5 at G/90 d5 rounds 6-9 at 40/100, SD/30, inc/30
4-Day Schedule: rounds 1-6 at G/60 d5 rounds 7-9 at 40/100, SD/30, inc/30
