The Ratings Review Process
Player Ratings used for SuperNationals VIII (SN8) come from the US Chess April 2025 Rating Supplement in accordance with the US Chess Scholastic Regulations. The Scholastic Regulations require a thorough review of the chess ratings of all participants. This review includes US Chess over-the-board (OTB) and online (ONL) ratings as well OTB ratings for players who have ratings within the following other rating systems: FIDE (World Chess Federation), Northwest Scholastic Rating System, and the Canadian Chess Federation. At times, ratings from other national rating systems may be reviewed. The ratings review process does not include ratings issued by ONL playing venues such as Chess.com, Chesskid, ICC, LiChess, and similar vendors.
Ratings Review Report
At the conclusion of the ratings review process the US Chess Director of Events publishes a Ratings Review Report. This report is assembled by the Tournament Review Group (TRG), a responsibility defined in the Scholastic Regulations. The TRG makes decisions about whether to assign a rating to a player based on rating data found in other rating systems as mentioned above. Players on the list were subjected to TRG review, with the "Rating to Use" column reflecting the rating that will be used to determine a player's section eligibility as well as their eligibility for various prizes. Any player whom the TRG has ruled to resection as a result of an assigned rating has been notified by US Chess. The most current version of the Ratings Review Report is published here for transparency. Contact Click here to show email address with any questions.
