Main Event Entry Fees

- $105 online or postmarked by 10/27/2025

- $400 on-site until 10am Friday 12/12 – See Scholastic Regulations for details on required byes for on-site entries.

- NO registrations by phone.
- NO mailed registrations postmarked after 11/17/2025 will be accepted.
- 100% Entry refunds available if notified by email by 11/3/25. Refunds requested after 11/3/25 or in person at Chess Control by 11 a.m. PT on 12/11/25 will incur a $40 service charge. No refunds after 11am 12/11/25.
Main event information
- All 13 sections (one for each grade level) will consist of seven rounds with Swiss system pairings, and a time control of G/90 d10.
- US Chess reviews complete rating history for all players, per the Scholastic Regulations.
- Please bring clocks. Players are responsible for knowing how to set and operate their clock.
- Chess sets and score sheets provided.
- US Chess membership through December 2025 is required.
- Any roster changes made after 11/3/25 or on site will incur a $40 change fee.
- Up to two 1/2 point byes available any round if requested before round 1.
- A half-point bye in round 1 must be requested at the time of registration, or on-site before 11 AM Friday.
- A half-point bye request for rounds 2-7 not requested in advance must be requested two hours before the scheduled start of round 2.
- The December 2025 rating supplement will be used in compliance with the Scholastic Regulations.
- Seven rounds, Swiss system pairings, time control G/90, d10.

First place individual and team in each Championship Section, including ties, will be the National Champion for that division. Only Championship Sections award National Champion titles.
Badging
Starting at the 2025 National K12 Grade Championships, US Chess will issue badges to all participants. Badges will be required to enter the defined playing area.
The Playing Area will be defined as the Playing Hall and halls and walkways near the primary exits (see map below)
All players will be issued the following as part of their registration for the tournament with no charge:
- One Player badge
- One Accompanying Person badge

Badges grant access to the playing area and must be worn at all time in the playing area.
All participants have the option to purchase additional Accompanying Person badges with their registration. Each additional Accompanying Person badge is $20.00. Lost Accompanying Person badges will incur a $20 fee for replacement.
Who needs Accompanying Persons Badges?
Players and anyone over the age of 18 who wishes to enter the playing area will need an Accompanying Person badge. Minors who are not players accompanied by a badged person do not need additional badges.

- What: National Master Bryan Tillis, US Chess Director of Communications and Marketing, will be hosting a simultaneous exhibition to raise funds in support of at-risk youth and Title I programs. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit scholastic chess players.
