U2000 Class Tournament – Dec. 2nd & 3rd

Class A = 1800-1999.

Class B = 1600-1799. 

Class C = 1400-1599. 

Class D and below = U1400

You may “play up” one class by paying the $35 “play up” fee, if you are rated 1200 or higher.

Sorry, no unrateds allowed.  You must have at least a provisional rating to enter.

4 round Swiss. G/90, d5.  Sat. & Sun.  Rounds at 10am and 2pm each day.

EF $100 thru Nov 25th, $120 thereafter.  Prize Fund is $60 per entry, per section, with the winner of each section getting 60% of that section’s prize fund and 2nd place getting 40%.

EXAMPLE:  If 12 players are in Class A then the total prize fund for Class A would be 12 x $60 = $720.   First place would win $432, and 2nd would be $288.    If 18 players are in Class B then the total prize fund for Class B would be 18 x $60 = $1,080.  First place would win $648, and 2nd would be $432. Etc.

Yes, lower rated sections could have higher prize funds than higher rated sections.  Isn't that a nice change of pace?  It all depends on the number of players in each section. 

CANCELLATION POLICY:  If you cancel and request a refund $15 will be deducted for processing fees, OR you may use the entire amount as a credit toward a future tournament entry fee. NO REFUNDS WITHIN 24 HOURS OF ROUND 1, but your entire payment can be credited towards a future entry fee.

Everyone is subject to being 'wanded' (electronically scanned) in order to help prevent cheating.

LOCATION:  THE HOUSTON CHESS STUDIO Houston's only 'brick and mortar' chess club.  Centrally and conveniently located at 250 Patton Street, Suite H, Houston TX 77009.  Just inside North Loop 610 and only 2 blocks off North I-45.  There are 3 restaurants in the same strip center as THE STUDIO; The Red Hot Noodle (Asian), Subway(sandwiches), and Patron Pizza.  Several other restaurants are within walking distance. Plenty of parking and PARKING IS ALWAYS FREE!
