World Cadet Underway in China

The World Cadet is currently underway in China, with 75 players representing US Chess. Our top scorer so far is Liran Zhou, who has 5.5/6 in the Open Under 12. Liran broke the record for the youngest US Chess master ever in 2017, broken in 2018 by Abhi Mishra (who played in the US Masters instead of the Cadets) Other strong first halfs include Lucas Jiang, with 5/6 in the U8 Open,  Steve Wongso with 5/6 in the Under 10 Open, Ruiyang Yan in the Under 12 Girls and Alice Lee and Iris Mou with 5/6 in the Girls Under 10.

FIDE Events Manager Grant Oen told CLO that "Yesterday, on the rest day, our delegation played a lot of blitz and ping pong.  Our staff includes HOD FM Aviv Friedman, Assistant HOD GM Sergey Kudrin, Coaches IMs Kostya Kavutskiy, Levy Rozman, Andranik Matikozyan, Jan van de Mortel, and WGM Katerina Nemcova.  Almost all of us are playing ping pong every day, but GM Mesgen Amanov, who is here as a private coach for many students, is clearly the best." Thanks to our sponsor American Intercultural Education, AIE.  Their sponsorship helped outfit our team with the uniforms that they are proudly wearing in the above photos.       Quick Links  Chess Results Live Games Link Chess24 Live Games Under 8 Girls and Under 8 Open Under 10 Girls and Under 10 Open Under 12 Girls and Under 12 Open (these links will be added when they're available.)
