US Chess Rating Bonus Formula Change

The US Chess Ratings committee annual review has determined that there is some uncontrolled inflation in the system, and to combat the inflation we recommended changing the bonus point threshold in the ratings formula from B=12 to B=14.  Raising the bonus threshold lowers the number of bonus points upon a much better than expected performance. This change will be effective with tournaments ending on May 1 or later. For more information on approximating US Chess ratings, find more information on the formulas from Mark Glickman, Harvard Statistics PHD and US Chess Ratings Committee chair: http://www.glicko.net/ratings/approx.pdf http://www.glicko.net/ratings/rating.system.pdf
