Are you ready for  National Chess Day Event on October 14, 2017? The holiday dates back to October 9, 1976, as proclaimed by President Ford.   Major events coinciding with this year's NCD include the 35th Western States Open in Reno, the Annual Wright Brothers Open in Ohio at the Dayton Chess Club, a FIDE Weekend Open in Dallas, Texas and a 1K Guarantee at the Saint Louis Chess Club. California will host a National Chess Day Senior/Junior Open with a $9000 projected prize fund. See a full list of all the great events here and let us know your National Chess Day plans.
