It's Heating Up! Day 2 in Orlando

Sunday saw two rounds of action in the ‘Quartet’ – the Denker, Barber, Haring, and Senior Championships – and the second round of the traditional schedule in the US Open. With the completion of the Weekend Swiss and the Scholastic to boot, it was a  busy day in a  hot and humid Orlando. INVITATIONALS

Bryce Tiglon (WA) leads the Denker after three rounds at 3/3. He is a half-point ahead of seven players – Ben Li (MI), Aydin Turgut (IN), Andrew Titus (MN), Dex Webster (LA), Akshat Jain (CO), Nguyen Le (UT), and Rithwik Mathur (WI) – who have 2.5 points going into today’s play. Titus and Tiglon play on Board 1 in a key fourth round matchup.

One of the most interesting games of the day in the Denker was this Round 2 matchup between Turgut and Joseph Wan (IA). An uncommon material imbalance and mutual time-trouble made for a fascinating endgame, with Turgut ultimately winning.
