Atlanta Hosts 2nd Annual Campout Chess Tourney

Metro Atlanta Chess Partners hosted our National Chess Day 2nd Annual Campout Tournament at the Outdoor Activity Center in Atlanta on October 14.  In honor of National Chess Day, our goal was to encourage new players to keep playing chess to become better, as well as encourage experienced players to continue to grow in a fun environment. In between rounds, players were able to have their faces painted (for some early Halloween inspiration!) and participate in a nature hike on a 26-acre urban nature preserve, which was wonderfully guided by Mr. Darryl Haddock. The tournament was five rounds that included an unrated section, directed by Mr. Ben Johnson. Everyone had a wonderful time! “The National Chess Day Tournament was a wonderful experience for our family. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and the location was just fantastic. Having such a lovely outdoor space for the children to play in between rounds made it much more fun and relaxing. We definitely look forward to next year’s tournament.”  ~Jennifer Kiesel (chess mom)  Find out more about Metro Atlanta Chess Partners on their website and facebook page.
