2018 Women’s Continental Champs Set for Nov 16-25

The 2018 Women’s American Continental Championship will take place in Envigado, Colombia, November 16 – 25.  Please see full information and regulations, in Spanish.  This is a 9 Round swiss event open to all women (not age restricted) from the Americas.  In accordance with the FIDE Table for Direct Titles, this event qualifies for direct titles and norms, including the WGM title for 1st place and the WIM title for 2nd and 3rd place.  There is an $8000 USD prize fund. Any female US Chess member with FIDE Federation USA may play the event.  Players should note the Level 2 US Department of State travel advisory (exercise increased caution).  US passport holders may enter Colombia without a visa. Registration is done through US Chess.  Players interested in the event should contact Grant Oen (Click here to show email address) by Friday, October 5.  The top three players interested in the event, based on the October 2018 FIDE Rating List, will be designated as the US Chess official representatives, to whom the organizers offer double hotel room and food. All fees, for official and extra players, must be paid in full to the US Chess office by Wednesday, October 10.  This is a strict deadline, and absolutely no late registrations will be accepted.  Travel is the responsibility of the players.
