K-12 Champs Kick Off with Blitz & Bug as Twitter Takeover Begins

The K-12 Chess Championships in Orlando kicked off with blitz and bughouse events, as the @USChess twitter takeover by IM Greg Shahade captured the action. IM Hans Niemann (NY) won top honors in the K-12 Blitz, while Nathaniel Mullodzhanov (NY) won the K-6 Blitz.

Carlos Hoyos and Jennifer Hoyos and Hans Niemann and Ragav Venkhat tied for first in the bug.

WIM Carolina Blanco is on her way to a weekend of analysis and fun at the Girls Club Room, along with special guests WGM Sabina Fosior and GM Elshan Moradiabadi.

Blanco posted a chess inspired Mickey Mouse problem in honor of the occasion.

Friday is the start of the Main Event, with two rounds at 1 and 6 PM. Don’t miss the US Chess takeover and follow along with the quick links below.
