2018 FIDE World Youth U16 Olympiad

US Chess will be sending one official team to the upcoming 2018 FIDE World Youth U16 Olympiad – regulations can be seen here.  This event is held in Konya, Turkey from November 24 – December 3, 2018.  The team is to consist of four players plus one reserve for a total of five players, including at least one girl.  There will also be a team captain/coach.

Each player will receive a stipend to reimburse expenses, and a shared double room and board for the duration of the event.  The cost of accompanying persons will be the responsibility of the player.

Players who have not reached the age of 16 by January 1st, 2018 (born 2002 or later) are welcome to apply to participate on this team.  If you are interested in playing, please send an email to FIDE Events Manager Grant Oen ([email protected]) by 5:00 PM on Monday, October 15.

The team will be chosen based on the top 5 players, with a minimum of one girl, to apply by the deadline, based on May 2018 US Chess ratings.
