FLASH UPDATE: Free Chess Sets Program CLOSED

Due to the overwhelming popularity of our new Education Program in which we are offering free chess sets to eligible Title I schools in partnership with US Chess Federation Sales, we have exceeded the maximum number of applications for the chess equipment donation and so the Survey Monkey application link is closed and no longer active. We will be verifying eligibility of all who have applied so far and if we do not meet the 200 mark after the US Chess review, we will reopen the application via Survey Monkey with a posted notice on our website.

  1. It is sad that the inaugural program of the US Chess had to shut down after two days. Perhaps it speaks to the gap between the need for Chess in Education and what US Chess has been able to offer.

I look forward to learning more about the new US Chess Education Program and its plans. For example, is this program solely about distributing chess materials? What is its scope and mission? What is the governance structure for the program?

    • Our next initiative will launch in January.

The Scholastic Council and Committee have taken on the function of Chess in Education after many years of stagnant activity in this area.
